At the site where Highway 50 crosses the Platte River in Cass County is the town of Louisville, NE. Outdoor recreation plays an important role in the city and parks near the city. There are swimming, baseball, football, and soccer facilities for organized and individual activities. Within the city is Louisville State Lakes—five fishing lakes, camper hook-ups, and a swimming lake with a sandy beach. Three miles from the city is Platte State Park—a large wooded recreational area with cabins, fishing, paddle boating, horseback riding, hiking, and a restaurant overlooking the Platte River.
